Nomi's three memory layers

Nomi splits memory into short-, medium- and long-term layers and pairs them with custom backstories you write for her. It's a thoughtful design (you can tell memory is the product's priority). If memory is the only thing you care about, Nomi gets a fair shake here and lands close to GoLove's ULTRA.

Replika and Character.AI

Replika's strength is a persistent avatar identity backed by memory, so she stays recognisably herself over time. Character.AI has a strong reputation for in-conversation memory, and c.ai+ improves it further.

Every GoLove chat has a phone icon that starts a voice call, and each message she sends has a voice playback button. Both sit under Voice Messages & Calls on PRO. To be fair, calls aren't unique to GoLove: Nomi offers hands-free calls, Replika has calls on paid tiers, and c.ai+ includes unlimited calls.

A photo request, start to finish

1. Pick her from Explore and open the chat.
2. Tune her in Chat Settings. Set the lust level (1 is sweet, 5 is unfiltered) and the response length (1 is snappy, 5 is immersive).
3. Ask for the photo. Tap the media button, choose Send Photo and describe the scene in your own words.

Her photo arrives in about 20–45 seconds for 1 Star, with her face and body consistent with her avatar and earlier photos. Want more? Under the photo, Generate Video turns that same scene into a ~5-second clip in about a minute for 10 Stars. And if you're stuck for what to say next, the magic-wand button writes three reply suggestions. Actually useful, but optional.

This is the continuity we couldn't confirm on Chai: one woman whose voice, words and pictures all line up in the same thread. Same face in every photo is what makes her feel like a person instead of a random image feed.

On GoLove.ai, the order that works:

Outside the chat, Generate has two tabs, Video and Image, and it works per character. You build a clip from preset cards, then hit generate:

A 720p video costs 10 Stars; an image costs 1 Star. Any GoLove character works, and so does one you created yourself.

Design with AI

None of the existing characters fit? Describe your companion in plain text, up to 2,000 characters, and in about a minute you get a named character with her own @handle, a written bio and a portrait, for roughly 3 Stars. New characters are private by default. One real limit: characters are Female or Trans only, with no male companions yet.

Talking to more than one

Scenarios is a group chat with 2–10 characters. Each one answers in her own voice, and "Continue" lets them carry the scene between themselves. Nomi offers group conversations too. Kindroid has group chats and shared Rooms, but we couldn't confirm its pricing.

Where Nomi, Replika and Character.AI Come Out Ahead

GoLove doesn't sweep this. Here's where each rival wins, and the catch for this audience.

Character.AI for SFW, low-cost company

• Pros: strictly SFW, a generous free tier, an affordable c.ai+ upgrade, the largest character library in the category and polished iOS/Android apps.
• Cons: no NSFW content at all — weak sauce if adult companionship is the point.

Replika for long-running identity

• Pros: the longest-running brand in the category, a persistent avatar, AR mode and the cheapest annual plan in this comparison.
• Cons: romantic/ERP modes are restricted for newer accounts; older accounts from before 2023 are grandfathered.

Nomi for memory-first companionship

• Pros: tiered short-, medium- and long-term memory, custom backstories, hands-free calls and generated selfies. A solid pick if memory matters most to you.
• Cons: we couldn't confirm a photo-to-video flow inside the chat.

What We Couldn't Verify: Chai's Plans and GoLove's Free Tier

Some cells in the scorecard are blank on purpose. Here's what we could and couldn't pin down:

• Works (verified): GoLove's Memory, voice calls on PRO, and same-face photos in chat for 1 Star.
• Kinda (partly verified): GoLove's free tier. The only free-tier items we confirmed are 2 daily reward Stars and a limited daily Feed. We couldn't confirm the exact Feed count, or whether calls cost Stars on top of PRO.
• Nope (not confirmed): Chai AI's current pricing, memory depth and voice features. That's why its column says "Not confirmed" rather than a guessed number.

Two smaller caveats. GoLove's -70% new-user discount shows no expiry date, so treat it as limited-time and nothing more specific. And we couldn't confirm memory depth for GoLove beyond ULTRA's stated 8,000 messages.

Data handling is its own open question. We couldn't confirm how any of these apps stores or uses your chats, so read each privacy policy before you get personal.

Do any of these gaps touch the core? No. Memory, calls and consistent photos are verified, and that's enough to make the call.
